My favorite brand; Vetements pronounced [vet-mohn] just dropped their spring collection and once again Demna and his team really unleashed their repertoire of tricks in producing this collection. Demna decided to take to the streets of Zurich and ask people passing by to model the eccentric pieces.
Demna Gvasalia was the man behind the lens in this collection to capture the “essence” of the pieces. He went on to say in a vogue article “It’s not that I have any ambition to be a photographer, but I often find when I give direction to someone, they don’t catch the moment my eye sees.” He scrupulously captures the subjects around 57 locations in Zurich, ranging from a grocery store, bierkeller (pub), a bank and other conventional spots in Zurich.
Although the brand pokes fun at the conventions and pretensions in fashion, I feel like Demna Gvasalia grows as a designer with every collection. I wonder how much longer the brand will be labeled as a “parody” label trolling the industry. Will he do a complete 180 with Vetements and Balenciaga? Who knows, only time will tell.
Below are some of my favorite pieces from the spring collection.
